『 大人のダッフルコート 』　　　　　　　INVERTERE

皆さん、こんにちは。太田です。
暦では20日が大寒、まだ暫くは寒い時期が続きますね。
寒さが本格的になってくると、私がどうしても語りたくなるアイテムがあります。それがダッフルコートです。
世の中には星の数ほどダッフルコートがありますが、

REUNIONとしては、そして私、太田個人としては「インバーティア（INVERTERE）」一択 だと思っています。

 

実は私とインバーティアの付き合いは、今から38年も前に遡ります。
あれは私の成人式でした。親に買ってもらった最後の服がインバーティアのネイビーのダッフルコートだったんです。
「高いな」と思いながら当時イケてたショップ、エミスフェールで手に入れたのを覚えています。
驚くべきことに、その38年前のコートは今でも現役です。
良い物はこれほど長く人生に寄り添ってくれる、
まさに「一生モノ」の証明ですね。
店内には今期ものインバーティアが並んでおります。
JOSHUA   ELLIS のヘリンボーン生地を使用した、圧倒的な雰囲気を持つコートです。
しかし、実は店頭に並んでいるものは、納品されたままの状態ではありません。
数年前の復活以来、どうしても納得がいかないディテールがあり、
私はあえて自分でお直しをしてから店頭に並べています。
ほんの少しの修正ですが、昔のインバーティアを知る方なら「ああ、太田が言いたいのはこれか」とニヤリとしていただけるはずです。
よそ様の物とはチョット違う、REUNION仕様のインバーティアをぜひ店頭で確かめてみてください。
「ダッフルは学生っぽく見える」なんて思っている方がいたら、それは勿体ない。
 インバーティアのダッフルは、大人が着てこそ格好いいんです。例えば、アイボリーやオレンジといった綺麗なカラーを、
酸いも甘いも噛み分けたオヤジがサラッと羽織る。これほど素敵なことはありません。
ちなみに私、気づけば手持ちのインバーティアは6着目になりました。「自分でも馬鹿だな」と思いながら、冬が来るたびにニヤニヤして袖を通しています。

According to the calendar, the 20th marks the coldest day of the year, so the cold weather will continue for a while yet.
As the cold really sets in, there’s one item I just can’t help but talk about: the duffle coat.
There are countless duffle coats out there,
but for REUNION—and for me, Ota, personally—I believe “INVERTERE” is the only choice.

 

Actually, my relationship with Invertere dates back 38 years.
It was on the day of my coming-of-age ceremony. The last piece of clothing my parents bought for me was a navy Invertere duffle coat.
I remember buying it at Emisphere, a trendy shop at the time, even though I thought, “That’s expensive.”
Amazingly, that coat from 38 years ago is still in active use today.
Quality items stay with you this long throughout your life—
it’s truly proof of a “lifetime piece.”

This season’s Invertere collection is currently on display in the store.
It’s a coat with an overwhelming presence, crafted from Joshua Ellis herringbone fabric.
However, the items on the floor aren’t exactly as they were delivered.
Ever since the brand’s revival a few years ago, there have been certain details that just didn’t sit right with me,
so I’ve taken the liberty of altering them myself before putting them on display.
It’s only a slight adjustment, but anyone familiar with the classic Invertias will surely smile and think, “Ah, so this is what Ota was getting at.”
Please come by the store and see for yourself the REUNION-style Invertias—they’re a little different from what you’ll find elsewhere.

If you think “duffle coats look too student-like,” you’re missing out.
Inverti’s duffle coats look their best when worn by adults. For example, imagine a seasoned man—who’s seen it all—casually throwing on a beautiful color like ivory or orange. There’s nothing more wonderful than that.
By the way, before I knew it, I’d added my sixth Invertiar to my collection. Even though I think to myself, “I’m such a fool,” I still can’t help but grin every time winter comes and I slip it on.
