3月に久しぶりに行ったイタリア出張、
この出張のメインは、『 BELVEST /  ベルベスト 』の工場に実際に行って
物作りの現場を見ることでした。
過去には、カルーゾ、ロータ、ヴァルスターなどの工場見学はありましたが
ベルベストは初めて。

振り返ってみれば、BELVESTとのお付き合いも20年以上になります。
REUNIONではオープンしてからかなり長い間スーツブランドは
カルーゾがメインで、そこに他のクラシコイタリアブランドを足していく
という品揃えでしたが、ここ15年くらいはベルベストオンリーといっても
いいくらいスーツブランドはBELVESTにしております。

地方の小さな小売店ですので、色々なブランドを取り扱うよりは
コレって決めてしっかり取り扱うほうがREUNIONらしいかなと思い
結果、BRLVESTってことになっております。
実際、9月にオーダー会を行うことが出来、多くのお客様にご来店いただきました。

やはりここのス・ミズーラはお客様の満足度も高く、
僕も自信を持っておススメできるので、REUNIONには欠かせないブランドになります。
オーダー会では、スペシャルなお客様のオーダーもあり、
ベルベスト側もREUNIONはお気に入りのお店になったはずです。
ということで、「 イタリアに来い ！」って言ってくれるものですから
頑張ってイタリアまで勉強に行ってきた具合です。

BELVESTはヴェネツィアがら車で1時間くらいのパドヴァに会社があります。
私はヴェネツィアに宿泊していたのですが、そこまでお迎えに来てくれるという
なかなかのVIP待遇でして、ホテルもBELVESTが用意してくれた
クラッシックないいホテルに滞在できました。

初めてのヴェネツィアでしたので、それなりに観光も。
街中ではベルベストを取り扱うショップも発見し、
お話をさせていただきました。

ここはヴェネツィアの中心部にあったこじんまりとしたお店でしたが、
ベルベストの取り扱いはもちろん、日本でもお馴染みのブランドが並ぶ
かなりいいお店でした。

BELVESTに到着後は、完全に仕事モードに切り替えて
真面目に工場内を見学させてもらいました。

オーダー会でお世話になった、ステファノ氏、
いつも日本の展示会でお世話になるフランコ氏が出迎えてくれ
スーツ作りの責任者でもあるマスターテーラーのステファノ氏が工場内を案内してくれました。

実際の工場内部は撮影は出来ませんが、私の頭の中にはきちんとインプットされておりますので
詳しい現場の感じはお店に来ていただければお話いたします。

美しい服＝BELVESTということで、
工場内は美術品だらけ、こんなブランドはなかなか無いんじゃないでしょうか。

工場の規模的には以前行ったことのあるカルーゾほどは大きくはないのですが、
多くの職人が黙々と仕事をしておりました。
広い社員食堂、綺麗に整った現場、美しい美術品のある社内、
皆さん誇りを持ってBELVESTで働いてるって感じ。
イタリア人は仕事をしないと思ってらっしゃる方が多いと思いますが
ここへ来ると実に真面目に仕事をしているってわかると思います。

有名なメゾンブランドももちろん縫っていましたが、
え、ここもそうなの？っていうブランドの物もかなり多くあり
工場としての実力はやはり本物かなと。
ただのMADE IN ITALY  ではなく、MADE  IN  BELVEST  だと自身満々に語っておりました。
ス・ミズーラの商品は既製品とは別のラインで作っているため、
多少高額になるのも納得。

ベルベストの皆さんが愛するパドヴァも案内していただき、
夜も素敵なディナーをいただき、
最高の出張になりました。

しっかり勉強させていただきましたので、
この服のすばらしさをもっと多くの方に伝えていきたいと思います。

In March, I went on a business trip to Italy for the first time in a long while.

The main purpose of this trip was to visit the BELVEST factory in person

and see the manufacturing process firsthand.

I’ve toured factories for Caruso, Rota, and Valstar in the past,

but this was my first time at BELVEST.

Looking back, our relationship with BELVEST has spanned over 20 years.

For quite some time after REUNION opened, our suit lineup

focused primarily on Caruso, with other Classic Italian brands added as supplements.

However, for the past 15 years or so, we’ve essentially

exclusively carried BELVEST as our suit brand.

As a small, local retailer, I felt that rather than carrying a variety of brands,

it was more in line with REUNION’s spirit to settle on one brand and handle it thoroughly.

As a result, we’ve settled on BELVEST.

In fact, we were able to hold a custom order event in September, and many customers visited the store.

As expected, our su misura suits here have a high customer satisfaction rate,

and I can recommend them with confidence, so BELVEST has become an indispensable brand for REUNION.

During the custom order event, we received orders from some very special customers,

and I’m sure BELVEST now considers REUNION one of their favorite stores.

So, since they told me, “Come to Italy!”

I went all the way to Italy to study.

BELVEST is based in Padua, about an hour’s drive from Venice.

I was staying in Venice, but they came all the way to pick me up—

quite the VIP treatment—and they even arranged for me to stay

at a lovely, classic hotel.

Since it was my first time in Venice, I did a bit of sightseeing as well.

I even found a shop in the city that carries BELVEST,

and I had a chance to chat with them.

It was a small shop right in the heart of Venice,

but it was a really nice place—not only did they carry BELVEST,

but they also stocked brands that are familiar in Japan.

Once I arrived at BELVEST, I switched completely into work mode

and took a serious tour of the factory.

Mr. Stefano, who helped me out during the order event,

and Mr. Franco, who always takes care of me at trade shows in Japan, welcomed me,

and Stefano, the master tailor who is also in charge of suit production, gave me a tour of the factory.

I wasn’t allowed to take photos inside the actual factory, but I’ve taken it all in,

so if you come to the store, I’ll be happy to tell you all about the atmosphere there.

Since “beautiful clothing” is synonymous with BELVEST,

the factory is filled with works of art—I don’t think there are many brands like this.

 

In terms of size, the factory isn’t as large as Caruso, which I’ve visited before,

but there were many artisans quietly going about their work.

With a spacious employee cafeteria, a neatly organized production floor, and beautiful artwork throughout the building,

you could really sense that everyone takes pride in working at BELVEST.

I think many people assume Italians don’t work hard,

but when you come here, you realize they’re actually very dedicated to their jobs.

Of course, they were sewing for famous luxury brands,

but there were also quite a few items from brands that made me think, “Wait, they make this here too?”

which really reinforced the impression that their capabilities as a factory are the real deal.

They spoke with great confidence, saying it’s not just “MADE IN ITALY,” but “MADE IN BELVEST.”

Since Su Misura products are made on a separate production line from ready-to-wear items,

it makes sense that they’re a bit more expensive.

The team at Belvest also gave me a tour of their beloved city, Padua,

and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner that evening—

it was an absolutely fantastic business trip.
