『 太田茂の40年史 』 Vol. 27 『 ARCHIVE ROOM 』
お店の奥のスペースにある僕の古くからの洋服たち。
このブログのタイトルにあるように、古い物は40年前からの物も置いてあります。
僕は古着というものはほとんど買いませんので、
全てセルフヴィンテージ物。
一着ごとに思い出のあるものを置いてあります。
洋服に興味を持ったIVYの頃の物から、自分でお店を開いた頃のものまでありますので
もう45年史ってところです。
洋服とは別にシューズも飾ってあります。
飾ってありますが、時々履くこともありますので、まだまだ現役の物が多いんです。
エドワードグリーン、ジョンロブ、チャーチ、オールデン、JMウエストンなどなど
自分でもよくもこんなに買ったなというくらい。
洋服も、80年代の物中心にそのころ多分一番イケてたブランドの物が多く置いてあります。
こう見てみると僕の輸入服好きがわかっていただけると思います。
洋服屋さんの若い方や、昔を懐かしむ年配のお客様などとこの部屋で昔話をしてきました。
来年になると思いますが、お店を少し改装しようと思っておりまして、
このスペースも今年いっぱいくらいで一度片付けようと思っております。

My collection of vintage clothing, tucked away in the back of the store.
As the title of this blog suggests, some of these pieces date back as far as 40 years.
I rarely buy secondhand clothes,
so everything here is from my own personal vintage collection.
Each item holds a special memory for me.
The collection spans from my early days as an Ivy League enthusiast to the time I opened my own shop,
so it’s essentially a 45-year history.
In addition to the clothes, I also have shoes on display.
Although they’re on display, I still wear them from time to time, so many of them are still in active use.
Edward Green, John Lobb, Church’s, Alden, JM Weston, and so on—
I’m often surprised myself at how many I’ve managed to accumulate.
As for the clothes, I have a lot of items from the 1980s, mostly from what were probably the coolest brands back then.
Looking at this, I think you can see just how much I love imported clothing.
I’ve spent time in this room reminiscing with young staff from clothing stores and older customers who look back fondly on the past.
I’m planning to renovate the shop a bit next year,
so I intend to clear out this space by the end of this year.
